Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) has suspended servicing the Kharkiv-Tel-Aviv flight until the end of winter navigation due to high prices of fuel and airport fees, the airline has told Interfax-Ukraine.

“Ticket sales in this direction have been discontinued since December 10. The main reason is unresolved issues with partners regarding the cost of fuel and maintenance of international flights,” the UIA said in response to the Interfax-Ukraine’s request.

The airline said that the flight Kharkiv-Tel Aviv will be suspended from January 16, 2019, until the end of winter navigation.

“At the moment, two companies provide refueling services in Kharkiv: the airport itself and another private fuel supplier. None of them provided a competitive offer. Moreover, UIA has so far no offer to refuel aircraft for 2019,” the airline said.

A source in the market told Interfax-Ukraine that in addition to the airport, AMIK Ukraine provides refueling services at the Kharkiv airport.

UIA recalled that from October 30 for the winter period of 2018-2019, due to a decrease in demand, the Kharkiv-Bergamo flight was suspended, and at present, the ariline only operates one direct flight from Kharkiv to Kyiv.

According to the airline, after stopping the flight to Kharkiv from Tel Aviv, UIA direct flights from Tel-Aviv will be available to four cities of Ukraine – Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv and Vinnytsia.
