You're reading: Ukraine central bank buys $ 375 million in interbank FX market this week

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) bought $375 million in the interbank foreign exchange market from June 7 to June 11, while last week it bought $40 million.

According to the data on the regulator’s website on June 11, the National Bank this week bought $355 million as part of interventions at a single rate, another $20 million was bought choosing the best purchase and sale price.

This week the NBU only sold currency.

According to the NBU, in general, since the beginning of 2021, the central bank bought $705.5 million into reserves, and sold $70 million.

In January the central bank spent $20 million to support the hryvnia, in February it was $200 million, in March it was $50.5 million, after which, in April, it sold $50 million. In May, the NBU did not enter the market with interventions.
