You're reading: Ukraine exports almost 60,000 tonnes of sugar since September

Sugar exports from Ukraine since early 2017/18 agricultural year (September-August) totaled 59,300 tonnes, the Ukrtsukor national association of sugar producers has reported.

The association said in a press release that in October, Ukrainian companies exported 42,300 tonnes of sugar, and this was 2.5 times more than in September.

“In October, exporters shipped 2.5 times more sugar than in the previous month and, according to the association’s forecasts, this indicator will continue to increase. The export geography did not change a lot. The main deliveries were to Azerbaijan – 29 percent, Sri Lanka – 18 percent, Tajikistan – 9 percent and Sudan – 8 percent,” Head of the analytical department of the association Ruslana Butylo said.

As of Nov. 8, Ukraine had 41 operating sugar refineries and produced 1.2 million tonnes of sugar.

As reported, Ukraine on August 30 began a new season of sugar refining.
