Deputy Minister for European Integration of Ukraine Yaroslav Demchenkov and Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Bakhit Sultanov discussed the prospects for expanding cooperation, particularly, in the energy sector.

According to the press service of the Energy Ministry, during the Ukrainian-Kazakh commission meeting in Kyiv on June 18, the Ukraine outlined several sectors of cooperation, among which a special place was occupied by the nuclear industry, trade and oil transit.

“We are interested in the supply of Kazakh oil and its transit through the territory of Ukraine. […] From our side, all the technical conditions have been created that are necessary for the transportation of light grades of oil through the Odesa-Brody and Druzhba pipelines,” Demchenkov said.

The Ukrainian representatives paid special attention to the issue of cooperation in the atomic sector. The supply of a uranium product, ion-exchange resins, fuel pellets and their use in the production of nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants are an interesting prospect for Ukraine.

Ukraine and Kazakhstan also agreed to explore the possibilities of expanding cooperation in hydrogen energy in order to achieve beneficial results for both sides. Demchenkov called on “Kazakhstani business to take part in the preparation of common projects for the production, use and transportation of hydrogen.”
