UkrInform: Ukraine-EU-Russia gas talks start in Brussels today

The Nord Stream 2 project bypasses Ukraine in carrying natural gas from Russia to Germany. When combined with Nord Stream 1, also under the Baltic Sea, Russia will be able to export 110 billion cubic meters of natural gas, potentially bypassing Ukraine's gas transit pipelines altogether.

Today, Sept. 12, trilateral negotiations on natural gas issues involving Ukraine, the European Union and Russia at the expert level will begin in Brussels.

“Negotiations start on Sept. 12, in the afternoon,” the representative of the European Commission, Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, said, TASS reported.
