JSC Ukrtransgaz has started mounting new equipment at the Bar compressor station (the Soyuz gas pipeline, Vinnytsia region) and installed two power turbines and compressors, the press service of Ukrtransgaz has reported.
At the station, two gas pumping units, which had worked for about 40 years, were dismantled and the basement was prepared for the further installation of new equipment. In addition, the fuel gas preparation unit, compressor and compressed air receiver were mounted.
Ukrtransgaz said that the reconstruction is expected to increase the station’s efficiency to 36% from 25%, achieving an annual gas saving of about 76 million cubic meters, as well as reducing the number of emissions.
As reported, the reconstruction of the Bar compressor station launched in 1978, is one of the largest projects on modernization of the Ukrainian gas transmission system. The projected cost of construction is around 80 euro, including 53.5 million euro of a loan provided by Deutsche Bank and 26 million euro of Ukrtransgaz’s own funds. Ukrtransgaz plans to complete the reconstruction in autumn 2019. The project payback is nine years based on 25 years of operation.
