Sugar production in Ukraine as of Oct. 11 totaled 502,100 tonnes.
The Ukrtsukor national association of sugar producers reported that as of Oct. 11, a total of 39 sugar refineries were operating. They refined 3.72 million tonnes of sugar beets.
As reported, Ukraine started sugar refining season on August 30.
Ukrtsukor said that in 2017/18 agricultural year (September-August) some 46 sugar refineries will operate.
According to the association’s forecasts, sugar production this agri-year will be around 1.9 million tonnes. Exports could reach 500,000 tonnes.
Sugar beets were sowed on 318,000 ha in 2017.
