Chairman of the State Labor Service of Ukraine Roman Chernega says the Service is working to reduce the level of shadow employment in the country, where every third employee or about 5 million people are working illegally.

“The ILO [International Labor Organization] estimated the volume of the shadow economy. The assessment shows that about 50 percent (around 5 million) of officially employed workers (about 10-12 million) in Ukraine are employed within the shadow economy. So, every third [Ukrainian] is working illegally,” Chernega told a press conference on February 22.
