Ukrainian automakers in 2018 reduced production of motor vehicles by 23 percent compared with 2017, to 6,616 units, the Ukrautoprom association reports.

According to its preliminary data, production of passenger cars decreased by 22 percent, to 5,660 units, commercial cars (excluding AvtoKrAZ produce) by 73 percent, to 132 units. A slight positive trend was observed only in the output of buses – an increase of 2.5 percent, up to 824 units.

According to statistics data from the association, over the past year Zaporizhia Automobile Plant (ZAZ) reduced production by almost 13 time, to 131 units, mainly due to the almost complete cessation of manufacturing passenger cars (one car was made against 1,151 cars in 2017). In addition, the output of commercial cars decreased by 5.6 times, to 85 units.

PrJSC Eurocar formed statistics on passenger cars, producing 5,659 Skoda cars, which is 7.9 percent less than a year earlier. In the bus segment, Cherkasy Bus leads with the production of 441 units (15.4 percent more). The second position in this segment is held by Etalon Corporation with 188 buses (5.6 percent more), Chasiv Yar bus plant ranked third with 107 vehicles (a growth of 18.9 percent), and Bogdan Corporation ranked fourth with 43 buses against 110 a year earlier.

Commercial vehicles, in addition to ZAZ, were also produced by Cherkasy Bus (47 units against seven units in 2017).
