The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is a non-profit organization working to strengthen democracy worldwide. NDI programs are supported by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and other donors. NDI-Ukraine is currently seeking a full time staff member to support the work of Senior Country Director and Deputy Director. The Program Assistant will be reporting directly to the Senior Country Director and Deputy Director.
Job Title: Program Assistant to Senior Country Director and Deputy Director, NDI Ukraine
Task and Responsibilities:
Serve as a primary point of contact for managing the daily, weekly and monthly schedule of the Senior Country Director;
Research and collect data on political and socioeconomic developments in Ukraine, news sources, legislation, government regulations and other data relevant to NDI’s work;
Draft reports, political updates, analytical briefs, summaries, talking points, publications, and presentations;
Contribute to coordination of weekly activity reports, assessments and perform any other written communication as required;
Develop success stories based on NDI’s achievements across all programs in Ukraine;
Provide oral translation at meetings, trainings, conferences and translate written documents as required;
Serve as a liaison for managers and program assistants concerning the program schedule;
Provide support at trainings, research presentations, and other meetings and events, as required;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Law, Sociology, Public Administration or Linguistics with a focus on policy development;
Ability to demonstrate a keen interest in Ukraine’s reform and political processes, including civil society development, and political and parliamentary process;
Work experience in a related field is preferred, together with a thorough understanding of the political and civic landscape in Ukraine;
Ability to integrate gender perspective in different tasks;
Strong analytical skills;
Fluency in Ukrainian and English;
Ability to work in organized manner, meet deadlines and work in a team;
Excellent written and oral communication skills required;
Good computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs, Excel, Internet).
