It's the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) that should decide whether there was monopoly abuse by DTEK energy holding on the Ukrainian coal and thermal generation market or not, Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn said.

“I think nobody should take away anything – there are standard antitrust procedures, widely used around the world. I think a decision should in fact be made by the AMCU: what and which steps should be taken by the player with a considerable influence on the market,” he said at the International ‘Support for Ukraine’ Conference in Kyiv on April 28.

According to him, the ministry sent the AMCU a corresponding enquiry. “There could be many options. I’ve mentioned them many times,” he added.

Demchyshyn earlier paid attention to DTEK’s monopoly position on the Ukrainian energy market.
