APK-Invest, Donetsk Oblast, one of the largest pork producers in Ukraine, sowed spring crops on 18,000 hectares for the 2015 harvest.

“As of today, according to our department of crop farming, the sowing of spring crops is over, the company planted more than 18,000 ha with spring crops. Among them are barley – 8,800 ha, sunflower – 6,200 ha, mustard – 1,600 ha, and oats – 1,500 ha,” company CEO Roman Raspopov said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

According to him, in 2014, due to the fighting in the eastern regions of Ukraine, the company was unable to harvest crops from 2,700 ha. The cost of the lost crops is estimated at UAH 6.5 million (excluding VAT).

Raspopov said in 2014 the company harvested about 79,000 tonnes of crops, of which 43,000 tonnes of wheat (including 4,900 tonnes for seeds), 18,500 tonnes of barley (including 2,700 tonnes for seeds), 3,500 tonnes of oats, 5,300 tonnes of sorghum, 8,400 tonnes of sunflower, 600 tonnes of mustard.
