You're reading: Big changes for budget airline in Ukraine

Wizz Air Ukraine, the biggest budget airline operating here, is getting a second hub  and  expanding its routes within its $80 million investment plan, the company announced. The new hub in Donetsk is scheduled to open on Oct. 10, according to Wizz Air Ukraine. Currently, the airline has a hub in Zhuliany airport in Kyiv.

The airline also plans to add four new routes from Donetsk:
London Luton, Milan Bergamo, Munich Memmingen and Rome Fiumicino. By October of
2013, Wizz Air promises to provide flights to 23 destinations in 10 different
countries from four airports in Ukraine.

Milan Bergamo will have flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and
Saturdays. London Luton and Munich Memmingen will have flights on Wednesdays
and Sundays. Rome Fiumicino will have flights on Monday and Fruday. Seating on
flights is already available on Wizz Air.com starting at Hr 399.

Also, on July 1 Wizz Air launched its first flight from
Kharkiv to Kutaisi, Georgia. Flights are available on Monday and Friday with
prices starting at Hr 419.

Wizz Air will also make several other changes in their
flight plans regarding Ukraine. The Kutaisi, Georgia route will increase to six
weekly flights beginning on Oct. 3. And the Dortmund route will increase to two
weekly flights starting on July 6.

Additionally, Wizz Air is adding a new fourth Airbus A320 to
its fleet with a capacity of 180 passengers. Wizz Air expects that the number
of passengers in the Donetsk airport to grow up to 275,000 in a year because of
its addition. And more than 250 new jobs will be created, the airlines said in
a statement.

Wizz Air Ukraine is a subsidiary of the Hungarian airline.
It launched operations in Ukraine in 2008 as one of the first low cost service
airlines.
