Simferopol – Crimean Prime Minister Anatoliy Mohyliov has said that Crimea is ready to develop cooperation and implement joint projects in various fields with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Ukraine and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Mohyliov said this during a meeting with representatives of the IFC and the EBRD held in Simferopol on Wednesday, the press service of the Crimean Council of Ministers reported.

The meeting was attended by IFC Country Director for Ukraine Olena Voloshyna, investment adviser of IFC’s Infrastructure and Natural Resources Department in Ukraine Dmytro Kryschenko and a representative of the Bank, Head of Energy and Infrastructure Sector in Ukraine Mark Magaletsky.

Mohyliov said that Crimea is ready to offer financial institutions large-scale and local projects on the modernization of water supply and sewerage systems, farming sector development and the development of transport infrastructure.

“At present, Crimea is one of the most stable regions in Ukraine with great investment potential. This is confirmed by high ratings. We understand that economic development requires financial investment. This applies to almost all areas, including housing and utilities, processing industry, the development of irrigation systems. Therefore the Crimean government guarantees investors the maximum assistance. We give the green light to investors who are willing to work for the revival of Crimea,” he said.

The Crimean premier also thanked the representatives of the EBRD for their readiness to support the modernization of the water supply and sewerage infrastructure of the Southern coast of Crimea.

However, he stressed that the modernization of infrastructure is needed not only in Yalta, but in almost all coastal areas, including in Yevpatoria, Alushta, and Feodosia.

“The wear of the networks is high and this reflects on the tariffs. Their modernization will give a huge social feedback. This is extremely important for Crimea. Moreover, such reconstruction is important for our environment,” Mohyliov said.

In turn, Voloshyna said the IFC in Ukraine is willing to cooperate with Crimea.

“We are interested in the modernization of the water supply and sewerage systems, as well as the cooperation in agriculture, in particular, the restoration of the irrigation network of Crimea,” she said.

Magaletsky added that the EBRD also appreciates the investment potential of Crimea.
