Ukraine International Airlines (UIA, Kyiv), the largest airline in the country, has informed that delays of its flight are linked to technical issuers - going out of order several planes at once and failures in the plane turnover schedule.

“UIA employees do their best to remove defects and reduce the period of delays of flights as quickly as possible. The airline fulfills all liabilities to its passengers in full,” the airline said.

The company said that delays of several flights have been since July 24.

“We understand that the delay of the flights affects plans of our clients and we apologize for any inconveniences. Safety of flights was and remains of top-priority for UIA – we would never send the plane if we have any doubt in its operation and absolute safety for passengers and the crew,” reads the report, citing UIA Corporate Press Secretary Yevhenia Satska.

UIA was founded in 1992. It is the largest Ukrainian airline. Its base airport is Boryspil (Kyiv). The UIA fleet consists of 31 aircraft, including 27 medium-haul and four long-haul airplanes.

According to the National Commission for Securities and the Stock Market of Ukraine, as of late Q4 2014, Cypriot Ontobet Promotions Limited held 15.91 percent in UIA. Another 74.16 percent belonged to Capital Investment Project LLC (Kyiv).

Capital Investment Project LLC has belonged to Investment Projects Management LLC, the owner of which has been Ontobet Promotions Limited, since June 2012.

One of ultimate beneficiaries of UIA is businessman Ihor Kolomoisky.
