The Ukrainian Health Ministry is drawing up a national concept of regulating prices of medicine, which will oblige pharmaceutical companies to define the price during the registration of medicine in Ukraine.

“Are we satisfied with the current [pricing] mechanism in our country? No, we aren’t. We’re working on the national concept of regulating prices in Ukraine,” the head of the State Expert Center, Mykhailo Nesterchuk, said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.

He said that the concept is based not only the setting the upper prices, markups and monitoring, but also on the introduction of modern European mechanism, which will not allow companies to behave on the market as they want.

One of the steps of the concept is the declaration of the medicine prices during their registration by pharmaceutical companies in Ukraine.

“We want to introduce this, as we have not had this before,” Nesterchuk said.

He said that the work over the concept is being finished and in coming months it will be presented for public discussion.
