The total volume of industrial production in Donetsk region in 2014 fell by 31.5 percent, the first deputy chairman of the regional military and civil administration Oleksandr Kravtsov has said, while reporting on the implementation of a program of social and economic development in the region.

According to him, production fell in all major activities. The largest fall was observed in light industry – 2.8 times, chemical industry – by 47.5 percent, manufacturing of paper and printing industry – by 41.9 percent, machinery building – 41.1 percent, coal extraction – by 36.8 percent, food industry – 34.6 percent, coke production – 31.5 percent, metallurgy – by 27.7 percent, production and distribution of electricity – by 18.3 percent.

“In the energy sector power output and distribution in constant prices declined by 18.3 percent, while the program foresaw this figure at 12 percent,” Kravtsov said.

In addition, the official said that thermal power plants and industrial stations produced 22.7 billion KW of electricity, which is 19.5 percent less than in 2013.
