You're reading: Industrial production in Ukraine 1.1% down in March

The slowdown of the growth of industrial production in Ukraine in February 2012 to 1.6% year-on-year from 2% in January was replaced by the decline in the industrial production in March to 1.1%, the State Statistics Service has reported.

The growth of industrial production in January through March slowed to 0.9% year-on-year, from 2% in January through February.

The service said that compared with the previous month, industrial production in March 2012 rose by 9.8%.

At the same time, the service recalled that in March 2011, the growth in industrial production compared to March 2010 was 10.3%.

In March 2012, the industrial output was highest in chemical and petrochemical industry, where it stood at 9%, including 11.1% in chemical production.

The output of extractive industry grew by 3.6%, that of distribution of electricity, gas and water by 0.1%.

Meanwhile, the State Statistics Service noted a 20.7% fall in coke and oil refining products; a 11.1% drop in wood processing, a 12.3% drop in light industry, a 6.1% decline in other non-metal mineral production (building materials); a 5.6% fall in machine building, and a 1.6% fall in metallurgy.
