Ukraine's gas transport system will not be privatized, President of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and Regions Party MP Anatoliy Kinakh has said live on Channel 5.

He also noted that Gazprom should not be allowed to control Ukraine’s domestic gas distribution networks, because this would destroy the country’s national energy security.

Kinakh also said that a gas transport consortium on the basis of Ukraine’s gas transport system should be created on a trilateral basis.

"The Ukrainian gas transport system will not be privatized. We cannot allow gas monopolist Gazprom to control our domestic networks. There is no state doing that, because this destroys national energy security. And, of course, the consortium is possible only with the participation of three parties: the European Union as a consumer, Ukraine as a transit country, and Russia as a supplier, and preferably Azerbaijan and Central Asia as well so that we could have a diversified energy market," Kinakh said.
