Mariupol maritime merchant port (Donetsk Oblast) in January-August 2015 reduced cargo handling by 36 percemnt compared to January-August 2014, to 6.219 million tonnes.

According to live information from the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, over the eight months the company reduced transshipment of exported cargo by 2.6 times, to 3.437 million tonnes, imported goods increased 11-fold, to one million tonnes, and transit cargo fell by 55 times, to 8,300 tonnes.

Cargo handling inside the country grew by 10 times, to 1.006 million tonnes.

According to the types of cargo, the port in January-August almost halved transshipment of liquid cargo, to 49,300 tonnes, dry freight fell by 21.3 percent, to 3.072 million tonnes, and packaged goods by 45.8 percent, to 3.097 million tonnes.

Mariupol maritime merchant port is one of the largest seaports in Ukraine. The port’s handling capacity is more than 17 million tonnes of cargo per year. The port is open to ships with a total length of up to 240 meters, and a draught of up to 8 meters all year round. The port occupies 73.2 hectares with a total dock line length of 4.2 km.
