You're reading: Medvedev says Russia receives request of Ukraine for discount on gas, Moscow should make advances

MOSCOW - Russia has received a request from its Ukrainian partners that offers them a discount on gas in Q3, Russia is ready to meet them, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

“A request has arrived from Ukraine on extending the validity of the discount. For us this was fully expected with account of the complicated economic situation that prevails in Ukraine,” Medvedev said during a meeting with Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Gazprom head Alexei Miller.

The prime minister said that in Ukraine “everything is very, very difficult, in essence, the country is in a pre-default state.”

“Despite all the complications in our relations with Ukraine, we should evaluate these all difficulties of Ukrainian economy and reasonably go to meet our Ukrainian partners,” the prime minister said.
