You're reading: Prosecutor’s office: Vlasenko visited Tymoshenko in prison cell on day stated in Internet video

The date and time stated in a video that was posted on the Internet coincide with the date and time when Serhiy Vlasenko, a defense lawyer for former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, visited a hospital cell in Kyiv’s pre-trial detention center, in which Tymoshenko was imprisoned.

According to the press service of Kyiv’s prosecutor’s office, on the order of Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka, Kyiv’s prosecutor’s office conducted checks due to the release on the Internet on April 25 of a video about a meeting between two persons resembling Tymoshenko and her defense lawyer, Vlasenko, in Kyiv’s pre-trial detention center on December 15, 2011.

"The checks on a book on the registration of those entering and leaving the territory of Kyiv’s pre-trial detention center showed that Serhiy Vlasenko arrived at the prison at 1255 on December 15 last year. Accompanied by prison officers, he immediately went to the medical unit and entered the cell, in which Yulia Tymoshenko stayed. Thus, the date and time stated in the video that was spread on the Internet coincide with the date and time when Serhiy Vlasenko was in the medical unit, in which Yulia Tymoshenko stayed," the prosecutor’s office said.

Vlasenko left the detention center at 1825 on the same day.

As reported, a video appeared on the Internet, which shows a woman resembling Tymoshenko who freely moves around the prison cell of the pre-trial detention center (the video is dated December 15, 2011, when the former prime minister was imprisoned in the pre-trial detention center). The Batkivschyna Party said that the video was faked. Vlasenko also described this video as faked.

At the same time, the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine reported that the video was real.
