You're reading: Ukraine, China sign friendship and cooperation agreement

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Chinese leader Xi Jinping have signed a friendship and cooperation agreement between the two countries, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent has reported.

On Thursday, the two heads of state also signed a joint declaration
between Ukraine and China on the further deepening of their strategic
partnership.

The sides signed a number of bilateral documents after extended
Ukrainian-Chinese talks. In particular, they include an
intergovernmental agreement on technical and economic cooperation, a
memorandum of understanding between the State Agency of Ukraine for
Tourism and Resorts and the China National Tourism Administration on
promoting group tours of Ukrainian tourists, and a memorandum of
understanding between the Ukrainian Health Ministry and China’s State
Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine on cooperation in this
sphere.

In addition, the Ukrainian Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry and
the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and
Quarantine of China signed protocols on phytosanitary inspection
requirements on exports of soybeans and barley from Ukraine to China.
The sides also signed an agreement on cooperation in the fields of
energy efficiency, energy saving and renewable energy sources between
the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine and
the China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation (Sinosure).

Ukraine and China also signed a number of framework documents.
