You're reading: Ukraine could increase anti-dumping duty on float glass imports

The interdepartmental commission on international trade, at the request of PJSC Lysychansk Glass Plant Proletariy (Luhansk oblast), has decided to initiate the interim revision of anti-dumping measures regarding float glass imports to Ukraine (thermally polished glass) from Russia, Belarus and Poland.

The relevant statement by the commission entered into force upon publication in the Uriadovy Kurier newspaper on July 2.

The commission noted that from the second half of 2012 to the first half of 2013, compared to the same period the year before, dumping imports from these countries increased by 7.8 percent, while the price decreased by 12.3 percent. At the same time, production by domestic manufacturers fell by 38.3 percent, the number of employees – by 90 percent, while the price declined by 7.8 percent, while costs were up by 0.5 percent.

“The commission found out that the Russian Federation, Poland and Belarus are using the practice of unfair competition while exporting goods to third countries; circumstances concerning dumping and the level of applying anti-dumping measures are no longer sufficient to prevent dumping making damage,” reads the report.

According to the document, the registration of interested persons will last 30 days from the date of publication.
