Ukraine hopes to transit 110 billion cubic meters of natural gas across its territory in 2012.

Such an amount is stipulated in the draft state budget for 2012, which has been posted on the Web site of the Ukrainian parliament.

Natural gas transit across Ukraine to Europe and the CIS grew by 13.2% (by 8.415 billion cubic meters) in January-August 2011 year-over-year, to 71.979 billion cubic meters.

The transit of natural gas through Ukraine to CIS and European countries rose by 2.9% (by 2.777 billion cubic meters) in 2010 compared to 2009, to 98.602 billion cubic meters.

Ukrtransgaz operates Ukraine’s system of trunk gas pipelines and underground storage facilities.

It has 72 compressor stations, 110 workshops, and 1,451 gas distribution stations.

The pipelines it operates run for 38,600 kilometers, including 22,200 km of trunk pipelines and 16,400 km of pipeline branches.

The throughput capacity of Ukraine’s gas transport system is 288 bcm at outtake, and 178.5 bcm at intake, including 142.5 bcm to Europe and 3.5 bcm to Moldova.
