Sales of vehicles in Ukraine in February 2012 grew by 45% from February 2011, to 22,274, the Ukrautoprom association has reported.

The association said that the primary passenger car market expanded by 42%, to 14,804 vehicles. A total of 7,125 commercial vehicles were sold last month, which is 555 up on February 2011.

The bus market grew by 11%. The number of primary registrations of buses on the market came to 345.

The share of new vehicles with primary registrations as passenger cars came to 98%, in the commercial vehicles segment it was 21%, and in the bus segment 69%.

The association said that for the second month in a row the leader on the new passenger car market was the South Korean brand Hyundai: in February 1,408 cars were sold and registered.

VAZ was second with 1,297 cars. Volkswagen moved to the third position with 1,195 cars. ZAZ cars were fourth with 991 cars and Renault was fifth with 940 cars.

The ZAZ Lanos remains the most popular car on the new passenger car market: in February 796 cars were registered in the road police departments.

The largest number of new passenger cars was bought in Kyiv – 2,756. Donetsk region is second with 1,719 cars and Dnipropetrovsk region was third with 1,283 cars.

The smallest number of registrations was seen in Volyn region in February – 117 cars.

According to the association, GAZ us the leader in sales of new buses – 46 buses were sold in February, which is 53.3% up year-over-year, and BAZ was second with a 27.3% fall in sales, to 40 buses.

PAZ buses were third with 30 buses sold.

According to the report, the largest number of primary registrations of new commercial vehicles was seen for the GAZ brand: 278 (36.3% rise year-over-year), Volkswagen was second with 222 vehicles and a rise of 79%, and Fiat was third with a year-over-year rise of 2.2 times.

As exported, sales of vehicles in Ukraine in January 2012 grew by 35% on January 2011, to 15,379.
