Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, CEO of the Russian gas giant Gazprom Alexei Miller and Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Boiko have discussed current issues of cooperation.

The meeting took place in Kyiv on Tuesday, the president’s press service reported.

"We need to find mutually beneficial solutions and use them to build our relations," the Ukrainian president said.

President Yanukovych noted that he appreciated the understanding of the situation in Ukraine demonstrated by Gazprom’s leadership.

He also said that Ukraine understands the concerns of Russia.

The Ukrainian president stressed once again that the gas agreement signed in 2009 are unfair in relation to Ukraine.

"Both the base price and the formula itself raise questions. The formula that is used in Europe does not suit Ukraine," the president said.

Yanukovych said that undoubtedly the price of gas for Ukraine should be much lower than that for other European countries, noting, in particular, the smaller distance between Ukraine and Russia and the agreements signed in Kharkiv last year.
