It`s been over a year since Ukrainian people reached their right for a democratic future during Revolution of Dignity events. The political regime of iniquity and corruption was knocked down. And when the country had not yet had time to mourn its heroes and celebrate the victory, trouble came from where it was expected the least - from brotherly nation.
Taking advantage of the political instability in Ukraine and the temporary absence of a permanent leader, the head of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, decided to expand the boundaries of his country at the expense of territories belonging to another state. First, Russian troops occupied Crimea, then, under the guise of freedom fighters, moved to eastern regions of Ukraine. Common way of life in the country was violated. Ukrainian soldiers and thousands of volunteers took up arms and went to defend the territorial integrity of our country to ATO zone.
The conflict in eastern Ukraine has been going on for months. Attention of the world community continues to be focused on our country. Ukraine is supported by state leaders as well as ordinary people around the world. Every day thousands of Ukrainian and foreign volunteers help our soldiers
In these circumstances, the business community also could not stay aside. A group of Ukrainian and foreign businessmen had decided to establish an organization with a mission to help create a free, independent and democratic Ukraine. Ukrainian Freedom Fund became such charitable initiative, which today is one of the most prominent representatives of the volunteer movement in Ukraine. UFF activities have been officially approved by the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), the National Guard of Ukraine, as well as U.S.- Ukraine Business Council (USUBC), EU-Ukraine Business Council and the European Business Association.
UFF’s mission is being achieved through the collection of donations from donors all over the world. In particular, the fund purchases a range of non-lethal military equipment, medical equipment, expensive medicines, and uniforms for the soldiers, etc.
For example, thanks to the efforts of donors and volunteers of Ukrainian Freedom Fund, over the past few months Kyiv military hospital was equipped with new surgery theatre lamp and mobile ventilator. In February, thanks to the cooperation of UFF and volunteers from the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada, the fund purchased 450 warm sleeping bags and transferred them to ATO zone.
Ukrainian Freedom Fund provides regular reports on the use of received funds. The audit for the fund is conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers. Thus, the activities of UFF are absolutely clear that certainly plays a crucial role for donors from abroad.
By its example Ukrainian Freedom Fund shows the world that business should not stand aside. Because the preservation of piece in Ukraine is important not only for Ukrainians, but also for those who want to live in the world where freedom and human dignity stand on the first place.
