The situation on the housing market in Kyiv does not give grounds to forecast an increase in prices in the first half of 2012, the vice president of the Confederation of Developers of Ukraine, the board chairman of PJSC House Building Company No. 4, Petro Shiliuk, has said.

"The market, including demand and supply, is regulating housing prices. The prices will not grow at least in the first half of 2012. But as soon as funds and mortgage appear, the prices will rise, because a great demand will appear," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Shiliuk also noted that housing construction using the funds of the public has been confined and it is necessary to develop an affordable housing program, reconstruct old five-storey buildings.

According to him, the confederation has developed amendments to the law on the reconstruction of old five-storey buildings, which, in particular, foresee the introduction of the notion of resettlement for social needs.
