Slava Vakarchuk, front man of Ukrainian rockers Okean Elzy, has become a celebrity spokesman for UNICEF in Ukraine. The United Nations Children’s Fund said it made the selection after conducting a survey to determine the most well-known and respected public figures in Ukraine. Vakarchuk has already recorded a UNICEF radio advertisement, in which he reminds listeners, “Our children today, our future tomorrow.” The musician also plans to appear in a UNICEF video as part of his duties as spokesman.

Vopli Vidoplyasova bassist Oleksandr Pipa has recorded a solo album titled “Let’s Take Each Other’s Hands and all Stand in a Circle.” Pipa financed the project himself. The album features only six compositions and will have a limited run of just 1,000 copies. The official release date is set for September.

They claim he publicly insulted them at the recent Slavyansky Bazar festival in Vitebsk, Belarus.
