Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev had a telephone conversation on Thursday, according to the Web site of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers.

Azarov has congratulated Medvedev on his appointment to the post of prime minister and wished him success in this job.

The Russian premier, for his part, expressed confidence that the relations between the two countries will be actively developing on a mutually beneficial basis.

Azarov stressed that the strategic partnership existing between the two countries, allows them solving complex problems and finding compromises, as well as opening new areas and directions for mutually beneficial relations.
