The Communist Party of Ukraine will name its candidates for election to the Verkhovna Rada at its election convention on July 30, Communist Party Leader Petro Symonenko has said.

“As for the first five, it and the entire list of candidates will be
approved at the 45th special congress of the party, which will be held
on July 30. I think that everybody will be able to see the list on our
party’s Web site on the evening of that day,” Symonenko said in an
exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

According to the Communists leader, the party will nominate its own
candidates or support candidates from other left-wing forces in all 225
constituencies.

Symonenko said that the current election campaign was the logical
continuation of the communists’ long struggle for workers’ rights and
interests, and for the return of power to millions of ordinary people.

“It’s no accident, therefore, that we have chosen the slogan ‘We’ll return the country to the people!'” he said.
