You're reading: EP observers Cox and Kwasniewski visit Tymoshenko’s prison in Kharkiv

The observers from the European Parliament, former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and former president of the European Parliament Pat Cox on Monday visited Kachanivska penal colony No. 54 in Kharkiv, where former Premier of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, who is currently at hospital, is serving her sentence.

The European guests, who were accompanied around the prison by Head of Penitentiary Service department in Kharkiv region, were briefed about the life of the colony, the press service of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine reported.

In addition, Kwasniewski and Cox were given a tour of all the facilities of the prison, and were shown Tymoshenko’s cell.

The two officials said they had positive impressions of what they saw, noting proper conditions for people serving their prison term in the penitentiary.
