The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has high expectations for the appointment of a new head of the European Union's Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski.

"We certainly have the most positive expectations for the new EU ambassador to Ukraine, who represents Poland – a country which has done very much for the European integration of Ukraine," director of the Foreign Ministry’s information policy department Oleh Voloshyn told Interfax-Ukraine.

"As for Teixeira, we intend to work constructively with him until the very moment of his departure from Ukraine, and wish him success in his work in other priority areas of European foreign policy," the Foreign Ministry’s spokesman said.

As reported, Jan Tombinski is to replace Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira.

EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Catherine Ashton made a relevant decision, according to the press service of the European Commission. The replacement will take place due to a staff turnover.

Teixeira, in turn, was appointed head of the EU Delegation in Cape Verde.
