You're reading: Front for Change files 35 lawsuits due to voting irregularities in Odesa

The Odesa regional branch of the Front for Change Party has filed 326 documents on violations in the Oct. 31 local elections at Odesa District Administrative Court, along with 63 complaints to the city territorial electoral commission and 35 lawsuits.

The chairman of the party’s regional branch, Volodymyr Nemyrovsky, announced this at a press conference on Thursday, the party’s press service reported.

He said that the party would lodge more lawsuits in the courts, and added that it would work out all of the protocols by its observers by the end of the day.

"Voter turnout is usually announced three or four hours after the voting. Today is Nov. 4, but it is still unknown. And I will tell you why: because the mess happening with the ballots that are transported across the city is an attempt to increase the turnout," the politician said.

He said that residents of Odesa had a chance to come and make their choice, but starting from 22:00 on Oct. 31 "the Stalinist principle triumphed: it’s not important how they vote, it’s important how they count."

Front for Change leader Arseniy Yatseniuk earlier described the local election campaign in Odesa as the dirtiest one in Ukraine in 2010. He called on all parties who have declared that the elections in Odesa were rigged to join forces and act together in the courts.
