Local election in Odesa could be hampered, as power makes everything to upset it, Front for Change Party leader Arseniy Yatseniuk and Odesa Mayor Eduard Hurvits said at a press conference on Saturday.

Hurvits is running for election from the Front for Change political force.

Hurvits said that on Friday the city territorial election commission was to approve the structure of constituency commissions as Ukrainian law requires, although it has not been done. He said that the Party of Regions tried to staff all election commission with own representatives.

"They approved empty sheets of paper to enter names on them. They had a lack of knowledge and people to form the commissions not observing the law," the mayor said.

He said that currently lists of commission members are not issued to anyone. Hurvits expressed confidence that the city territorial election commission is to publish the structure of constituency commissions now or it should be dissolved.

Yatseniuk, in turn, said that the Party of Regions understands that it would fail to fairly win the election in Odesa.
