Verkhovna Radaspeaker Volodymyr Lytvyn is convinced that there should not be any political discussions concerning the Victory Day celebration.

"I do not see any reasons for political debates, for certain accusations. It’s not the time. We must respect people, respect the memory and provide the people with the possibility to have this holiday," Lytvyn told reporters in Berdychiv (Zhytomyr region) on Saturday.

According to him, currently only 43 Soviet Union Heroes live in Ukraine. Lytvyn said that last year the figure was 2 times higher. "We need to venerate these people. They are symbols, they are our memory," said Lytvyn.
