The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine suspects MP Serhiy Kliuyev of the Opposition Bloc faction and former commander of Aidar battalion MP Serhiy Melnychuk of committing a number of crimes, so Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin requested the parliament strip these MPs of their immunity from prosecution.

“Two queries were sent, which request the consent to institute criminal proceedings against MP Serhiy Petrovych Kliuyev, who is suspected of committing crimes under Part 4 of Article 190 (fraud) and Part 5 of Article 191. We also sent a request for giving a green light to criminal prosecution, detention and arrest of MP Serhiy Petrovych Melnychuk,” Shokin said at a press briefing in Kyiv on May 3 evening.

He noted that there is no time to list all the articles of the Criminal Code, under which Melnychuk may be charged. However, the main offence that the former commander of Aidar battalion is charged with is the creation of a criminal organization, Shokin said.
