Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has the status of a witness in the case concerning the murder of Ukrainian lawmaker Yevhen Scherban in 1996, Ukraine's Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka has said.
"In this situation, if investigative activities involve Tymoshenko, she has the status of a witness... the investigation is aimed at finding out who ordered this grave crime," the prosecutor general said at a press conference in Kyiv on May 30, when asked whether any charges had been brought against Tymoshenko in the Scherban case.
