The Regions Party parliamentary faction has proposed to convene a national roundtable discussion to debate the bill on the principles of the state language policy, which was passed at first reading on Tuesday.

"The Regions Party faction, the group of authors [of the bill], proposes holding a national dialogue, a national roundtable discussion, [for which] we could invite interested media and work on each article of the bill," Regions Party faction MP Vadym Kolesnichenko, who is one of the authors of the document, said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

He also said that all proposals and amendments to the document would be considered at second reading.

As reported, the parliament on Tuesday morning passed at a first reading the language bill. The bill strengthens the position of Russian and other national monitory languages in regions in which the number of native speakers of such languages is higher than 10%.
