Education, Science, Youth and Sports Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk fully meets the requirements of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and it is useless to expect the minister's resignation, Verkhovna Rada Deputy Chairman Mykola Tomenko has said.
"Education Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk fully meets the requirements of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, there is no need for us to appeal to the president [for the resignation of the minister]," Tomenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday.
According to him, dismissing Tabachnyk is the exclusive right of the president, and the report by Tabachnyk in parliament on Friday on the situation in the education sector shows that the president supports the minister.
"The fact that the president says nothing [on this issue] gives me the reasons to say that everything Dmytro Tabachnyk is doing is what [President] Viktor Yanukovych is thinking about. Everything that Tabachnyk is speaking about is what President Yanukovych is striving for," Tomenko said.
