You're reading: Tymoshenko: Authorities plan to break the law during my trial

Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko is certain the authorities deliberately chose an inexperienced judge to carrying out their orders to convict her of abuse of power charges over gas agreements her government signed with Russia in 2009, according to Official website of Tymoshenko.

”The judge has been selected. This is someone that has been working as a judge a little less than two years. Someone with no experience, appointed to this post by presidential decree, and trusted to consider one of the most political cases, one that has signs of political repression. A little more than a month before this trial, this person was transferred by Victor Yanukovych’s decree from the Kyiv oblast to the the Pechersk District Court,” Tymoshenko said at a press conference today.

She believes the authorities are trying to remove the opposition as quickly as possible. ”They will try to conduct this trial in violation of all laws at an accelerated pace. I’m convinced that this task has already been given to this young, but ’gifted’ judge, but this doesn’t mean it‘ll work,” she added.

Tymoshenko also believes the ”Pechersk court’s verdict was written a long time ago in Yanukovych’s Presidential Administration.”

”This trial will be conducted on personal orders from Yanukovych. Everything happening to me is an attempt by Viktor Yanukovych to take revenge and destroy me as his rival. I have no fear, no despair. I know that this is a judgment seat, that it was prepared by Yanukovych and his cronies, I know that they want to deliver the harshest and most unprecedented judgments, but I also believe that they will not succeed,” said Tymoshenko.
