Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said she is concerned about the bill on the principles of state language policy, BYT-Batkivschyna faction deputy Serhiy Sas has said after visiting the former prime minister at hospital in Kharkiv.

“Tymoshenko is very concerned about the events that have occurred due
to the adoption of the bill on languages,” he said at a faction meeting
on Tuesday, the faction’s press service reported.

“She knows all of these things in detail. She asked me to express her
indignation at what happened in our faction in connection with these
events last week,” he added.

Sas passed on greetings from Tymoshenko and said that she kept on fighting, and called on parliamentarians to fight.

As reported, on June 5, the Verkhovna Rada adopted at first reading a
bill on the principles of the state language policy, which was
co-authored by Regions Party MPs Vadym Kolesnichenko and Serhiy Kivalov.
The bill strengthens the positions of the Russian and other languages
of national minorities in the regions in which their numbers exceeds
10%.
