A law on video surveillance over elections has taken effect in Ukraine.

The law envisions the creation and introduction of a video
surveillance system at polling stations on a permanent basis during
parliamentary elections.

For that purpose, at least two web cameras, as well as information
recording devices, image data processing devices, and information
transmission devices will be installed in every polling station.

According to the law, web cameras are be located in such a way as not
to violate the secrecy of voting while ensuring public control over the
observance of the voting procedure and the counting of ballots.

Ukrainian Central Elections Commission Chairman Volodymyr Shapoval
earlier said video surveillance will be organized by the Russian company
that did the job in the recent presidential elections in Russia.
