You're reading: Yanukovych not satisfied with pace of reforms in Ukraine

Reforms in Ukraine are slow due to unreadiness of the state machine, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

"No wonder they (the reforms) are being pulled back since the staff is not ready to them yet, and the mechanisms we are currently creating need time," he said while closing a plenary meeting of the council of domestic and foreign investors under the Ukrainian president in Kyiv on Thursday.

At the same time, the head of state has stressed that he is not satisfied with this explanation. "I have no peace day and night," he said.

The president said they could already feel the changes brought by the reforms in the country, but they were fast enough.

Yanukovych assured that the country has a potential to changing for the better and has a necessary political will for this.
