Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said he has noticed positive dynamics in cooperation between Ukraine and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

The president said this at a meeting with the co-rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee on Ukraine, Mailis Reps and Marietta de Pourbaix-Lundin, in Kyiv, according to the presidential press service.

Yanukovych also said that relevant working groups have been formed to monitor the settlement of all issues related to Ukraine on which PACE has made decisions.

"I was happy to notice positive dynamics in the settlement of issues in many spheres, and our active cooperation with PACE is assisting this," the president said.

He also stressed that Ukraine is constantly in touch with the PACE.

"Every meeting gives us an opportunity to share opinions, information and deal with Ukraine’s obligations to the Council of Europe together," Yanukovych said.

The president also praised the fact that PACE representatives are able to interact with various public institutions of Ukraine. According to him, this creates necessary conditions for a fair and unbiased evaluation of the situation in Ukraine.

As reported, on May 16 the co-rapporteurs of PACE visited Kharkiv to meet with former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko, who is undergoing treatment at Central Clinical Hospital No. 5.
