Ukraine must hold fair and democratic parliamentary elections, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said at a meeting with the co-rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee on Ukraine, Mailis Reps and Marietta de Pourbaix-Lundin, in Kyiv.
"We are getting ready for holding parliamentary elections. Our task is to hold fair and democratic elections," he said.
According to the presidential press service, Yanukovych said that special attention should be paid to the fact that, as it had been planned, necessary laws have been passed a year before the elections.
The elections to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, will be held on October 28, 2012.
