The leader of the Regions Party faction in parliament, Oleksandr Yefremov, has said that nobody will cancel benefits for Chornobyl cleanup workers and Afghan war veterans.

"We agreed all of the issues with the leaders [of those protesting outside the parliament building] two weeks ago. And, moreover, a working group met last week, and all of the problems concerning these categories of privileged individuals have been agreed," the press service of the Regions Party quoted Yefremov as saying on Tuesday.

He said that bill No. 9127 had not yet been tabled for consideration in the session hall.

"So the [protestors‘] statement of demands, which have in fact been met, has no grounds," Yefremov said.

He also said that it was impossible to put up "any fences between the government and the people."

"This is my opinion and the opinion of our faction," Yefremov said.
