Moscow - Amid Western sanctions regarding Russia the approval ratings of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev keep on growing and reached their highest level since the year started, Levada center told Interfax citing a poll.

A total of 87% of Russian citizens currently approve of Putin’s activities as the president against 83-85% in May-June, 72% in early March and 65% in Jan., sociologists said.

The share of Russian displeased with Putin’s work dropped from 34% to 13% from Jan.-July 2014, the poll showed.

According to the information of the Levada Center, 71% of Russian citizens approve of Medvedev’s work as prime minister (against 65% in July, 59% in March and 48% in Jan.) and 27% respondents disapprove (against 33%, 38% and 51% respectively).

A total of 66% of Russians believe that things are generally going in the right direction in Russia now, against 55% in July and 43% in Jan. Meanwhile, 19% (against 26% and 41% respectively) share the opposite stance.

According to the information of the All-Russia Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM), by late July 88% respondents said they supported the president’s activities (against 82% in early July) and 71% of Russians approved the work of the prime minister (against 67%).

Meanwhile, according to the information of the Public Opinion Foundation, the level of Putin’s support by Russian grew from 55% in Jan. to 81% in late July.

The Public Opinion Foundation conducted the survey on July 26-27 in 204 settlements in 64 Russian regions among 3,000 respondent and VTsIOM held its poll during the same time in 130 cities, towns and villages in 42 regions among 1,600 respondents.
