CHISINAU - Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat has said that Chisinau and Tiraspol are meeting all their obligations assumed earlier, the government's spokesperson said after a meeting between the Moldovan prime minister and Transdniestrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk in Rottach-Egern (Germany) on June 20.

Representatives from Chisinau and Tiraspol attended an international
conference on the promotion of confidence-building measures in the
Transdniestrian conflict settlement process, organized by the
Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in
cooperation with Germany.

“The meeting focused on the steps that were made to implement the
agreements reached at this stage, including the results of the working
groups,” the Moldovan government’s spokesperson said.

For example, under the April agreements children from the left bank
of the Dniester river will be sent to summer camps located on the right
bank as of June 20, and vice versa, the Moldovan prime minister.
Cultural relations have also intensified, with a famous Moldovan folk
dance band recently staging a performance in Tiraspol, Filat said.

Shevchuk said he is satisfied with his cooperation with the Moldovan prime minister.

“An atmosphere of mutual trust is developing between us. I believe we
are at the beginning of a new path, and confidence building will enable
us to solve much more important problems in the future,” Shevchuk said.

Filat and Shevchuk told the five plus two negotiators that they have
agreed to continue efforts to resume transport services on the Gura
Bicului Bridge across Dniester, which were disrupted 20 years ago. This
will allow to open an international transport corridor. The parties
discussed prospects for swift reopening of additional railway passenger
routes via Tiraspol to traditional destinations such as Rostov, Moscow,
St. Petersburg and Chernivtsi.

The parties analyzed the implementation of the protocol resolution to
resume freight rail services in full as of March 30, 2012. They noted
the need for detailed specification of export and import procedures and
smooth functioning of rail transport.

The parties also discussed the resumption of passenger and freight services by road.
